DSR CEO WHEELCHAIR CHALLENGE
This page sets out the terms and conditions regarding:
Participating in the DSR CEO Wheelchair Challenge (including any associated fundraising) (the Event);
and
The Privacy Notice in relation to the DSR CEO Wheelchair Challenge website (the Website).
(Collectively, the Terms and Conditions).
Please note that Disability Sport and Recreation (DSR) reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions without notification and request that participants should periodically visit this page to review the Term and Conditions.
DSR may remove any content posted by participants, prevent access to the Website and/or prevent from participating in the Event or the event of non-compliance with these Terms and Conditions that are subject to the laws of Australia.
The Website is owned and operated by DSR. Access to the Website and participation in the Event is conditional upon the acceptance of, agreement to and compliance with the Terms and Conditions, notices and disclaimers, including the Website’s ‘Privacy Policy’.
By accessing the Website and/or registering for the Event, the participant is deemed to have read and are bound to the unconditional acceptance and compliance with the Terms and Conditions set out below.
Information contained on the Website is as current as our resources permit and has been provided as complete and in good faith without any express or implied warranty. DSR is not liable for any costs or losses incurred through use of the Website (including by accessing links to third party websites from the Website).
WEBSITE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All logos and slogans are subject to copyright obligations to DSR and, along with all information, text, graphics, advertisements, audio and multimedia found on this Website (in whole or in part) are not to be copied, reproduced, reused, reposted, repurposed, transmitted, adapted, republished, broadcast, distributed or uploaded without written authorised permission.
The information on the Website has been provided for personal, non-commercial use only, to provide information on the services provided by DSR.
EVENT TERM AND CONDITIONS
DSR CEO Wheelchair Challenge 2024 (the Event)
The Event is hosted by DSR and is intended to raise funds and awareness about accessibility and inclusiveness for people with a disability by encouraging participants to use a wheelchair for one day in their place of work.
In entering the Event, it is agreed to abide by the following terms and conditions:
- I have volunteered at my sole risk to raise funds for DSR (ABN: 90 355 468 664, Victorian Fundraising Permit 10566.15) by undertaking an activity which may be personally challenging for me.
- As soon as possible after the Event, I will remit to DSR all funds raised along with photographs and other documentation of the Event for use by DSR in future fundraising activities including promoting future DSR CEO Wheelchair Challenge events.
- I understand and acknowledge that:
- The Event may involve an inherent risk.
- No representation or warranties in relation to my safety and the safety of the event including the DSR CEO Wheelchair Challenge is being made by DSR or any of the Event organisers
- I will properly consider any risks before undertaking the Event.
- The decision to participate in the Event is entirely my own and I accept and assume all risks and liabilities associated with participation in the Event, including but not limited to loss of life or permanent injury.
- I will comply with the reasonable directions of DSR and its authorised representatives and that DSR may remove me from the Event at its sole discretion.
- In consideration of and as a condition of acceptance of my participation in the Event for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, I:
- Waive, release and discharge you (including its directors, staff, agents and independent contractors, the Event providers, volunteers and sponsors (the “Indemnified Parties”), from all and any liability including all claims or causes of action which I might otherwise have (including for negligence) arising from any injury, loss, or damage of whatever kind suffered or sustained by me arising or indirectly out of my participation in the Event; and
- Indemnify the Indemnified Parties against any claim, action, liability, loss, damage, cost or expense that the Indemnified Parties incur or are liable for as a result of my participation in the Event including my participation in the Event; and
- Agree not to bring any claim against DSR or any third party involved in the Event including but not limited to the Event providers for loss or damages, regardless of whether negligence can be demonstrated.
- I acknowledge that DSR will not insure me or my employer in relation to any aspect of the Event and I agree that I am responsible for all necessary insurance to cover my participation in the Event.
- I agree to abide by all laws relating to the conduct of the Event and any advice or rules of any third party involved in the Event including the Event organisers.
- I warrant that I am physically fit to participate in the Event and I will not participate in the Event if I am currently suffering from any medical or other condition that may impair or impede my ability to participate.
- I consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during the Event.
- I am at least eighteen (18) years old.
- I consent to the use of any or all of my name, image, job title and employer details, voice and statement and any photographs supplied under clause 2 above to promote the Event in any form of media without payment or compensation. If you do not wish your involvement to be promoted, or for photos or footage of you to be used, please make this known to the Event team upon registration.
- I have had the opportunity to review the DSR Privacy Policy, summarised below, available in full https://www.dsr.org.au/privacy-policy.
- The Event is a ‘dry’ event and absolutely no alcohol will be allowed while using the wheelchairs.
WHEELCHAIR CODE OF CONDUCT
As a participant in the Event, your conduct in the wheelchair must always be respectful towards people with a disability. This includes:
- No bad taste “jokes”, “humour” or “mocking” when referring to people with a disability (including any comments made on social media when referring to the Event)
- No role playing as if you were a person with a disability when in the wheelchair. We also discourage you from using any PWD (person with disability) parking spaces when participating in the Event.
- No performing risky behaviour when in the wheelchair. This includes spins, wheelies, speeding down ramps and other actions that may cause injury to yourself, others or property.
- Always use appropriate language when referring to people with a disability, as per the information supplied in the DSR CEO Wheelchair Challenge Social Media and Content Guide.
PRIVACY NOTICE
The Board of Disability Sport & Recreation (DSR Board) is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information which the organisation collects, holds and administers. Personal information is information which directly or indirectly identifies a person.
DSR collects and administers a range of personal information for the purposes of membership management, sporting and recreation programs and fundraising. The organisation is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information it collects, holds and administers.
DSR recognises the essential right of individuals to have their information administered in ways which they would reasonably expect – protected on one hand and made accessible to them on the other.
These privacy values are reflected in and supported by our core values and philosophies and also reflected in our Privacy Policy, which is compliant with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
DSR is bound by laws which impose specific obligations when it comes to handling information. The organisation has adopted the following principles contained as minimum standards in relation to handling personal information.

DISPUTES AND REFUNDS
All complaints, grievances and disputes will be treated seriously, quickly and in a timely manner, having due regard to procedural fairness and confidentiality. All parties are required to participate in the dispute resolution process in good faith.

CHANGES TO DSR POLICY
Please be aware that we may change this Privacy Notice from time to time in the future. The revised versions will be uploaded onto the Website, so please check back from time to time. If, at any point, we decide to use personal information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time it was collected we will notify you by email or via a prominent notice on the Website, and where necessary we will seek your prior consent.
